Abstract:

The historian Xenophon is one of the few classical historians whose works were preserved after Herodotus and Thucydides. Besides his historical abilities, he is distinguished by his knowledge of many arts such as economics, sociology, politics and military affairs His name is Xenophon Ben Krylos. He was born in Athens in 430 BC. or 435 BC. in a wealthy noble family. In the year 401 BC. he joined the Greek mercenary army, which Prince Akhmeni brought together a small Korch Sageer in Sadres, to fight his brother, King Arthashta II, and snatch the Axmenic throne from him. After the killing of prince Korch Sageer and having plotted a plot in which senior Greek army commanders were killed, Xenophon was chosen to lead them back to Greece, in the spring of 400 BC. The news of this campaign was immortalized in his famous history (Anabasis) or (Ascension), this book is a world-famous historical book and has occupied an important place, especially in Greece, until it was said that it opened a wide window for them to see the civilizations of the ancient East and was among the various reasons that encouraged Alexander of Macedonian to expand into the Ancient East regions. Its importance for the history of Iraq lies in the study of its geographical, social and economic conditions at the end of the fifth century BC. This book was translated from the English version by Mr Yaqoub Afram Mansour in 1984. This book is a contemporary historical record of the events experienced by the Achaemenid Empire after the death of Dara II and the struggle of his children for the throne. In the meantime, he referred to the various stages of education in Persia. He praised Koresh's ethics and described his qualities in great detail. However, what is considered is that he was inclined to description and general presentation of history and was not an in-depth researcher interested in the careful analysis and logical interpretation of historical events.
