Abstract:

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the two worlds, and peace and blessings upon the one who is sent as a mercy to all mankind, and upon all his family and companions and those who follow them rightfully till the Day of Judgment.
No doubt that upbringing in general, like all the other disciplines, has its basics, fundamentals, goals and ends. It is a constructive and fruitful work with a number of controls and laws that make out of it a positive work and a creative art that can be applied to life realities.
If we look at Islamic upbringing in particular, we would find that it is not confined to education, training, familiarity with manner or acquisition thereof, rather it is a comprehensive development of all the aspects of the human personality. Indeed it is a comprehensive methodology of all that has to do with the upbringing process necessary for the human being, the fruits of which are the reformation of the individual, refinement, disciplining, purifying, keenness to teach him, giving him advise and direction in the light of the teachings and guidance of the magnanimous Islamic religion.
For this reason upbringing was the mission of prophets and messengers, peace and blessings of Allah be upon them, and the object of thinking of the devout forerunners throughout history, whose purpose was to let every individual have a balanced growth in his society that would make him in harmony with the nature in which Allah Most High created him, with the instinct which Allah bestowed upon him, along with the characteristics and drives that Allah granted him. Among these is the sexual drive which Allah created in the human soul in order to be the origin of conservation of living creatures. Foremost among these is the human being for whom Allah fixed specified time to detonate this energy in order to be able to get married and beget children. This time is called the age of accountability where one is responsible for his acts and punishable or rewardable for his deeds.
In order to make this sexual drive progress smoothly and bring the individual to a safe haven without any external arousals that feed perversion and deviating sexual practices, and without anything to lead him to satisfy it by means of extramarital relationships, Islam observed this drive and surrounded it with an impregnable barrier and fortified it with a strong fortification, and surrounded it with legion commands in order to refine it and leave it balanced without any immoral behaviors, and keep it chaste and undefiled.
But the question which poses itself here is how to achieve these results?
The answer is that there is no way to reach these results except through a single passage way which is sexual education. That same sexual education which has been swinging back and forth between ignorance and the dire need of children along with the inattention of parents under the excuse of shyness, customs and traditions, or even indifference. Such pretexts are unfounded and may lead to bad results and grave consequences if everything continued as it has always been.
Both parents and children need to be on their guard and to be sure that sexual education is no less important than mental and physical education. Hence Islam provided it with special care and attention just like any other vital need. Islam did not leave the sexual drive without due attention; but, on the other hand did not address it openly so as not to be read and discussed for pleasure in its own right by the depraved and corrupted. The sexual drive in Islam is learnt about in order to be part of the worshiping practices that have been enjoined by Allah, and to be derived from its sources in the scripture of Allah and Sunnah of His Prophet, and then from the authenticated Islamic books, and finally the unbiased foreign books as wisdom is a goal of persistent search and an object of a long-cherished wish for every Muslim.
