Abstract:

Oriental studies varied and differed according to their different schools and orientations, The French Oriental School is considered one of the schools most concerned with Arab and Islamic heritage, The history of Algeria and its varied heritage gained great attention from orientalists of the French School, especially after the occupation of Algeria in 1830 AD, As those orientalists devoted themselves to the Algerian heritage, translating from it and writing about it. Their writings included various fields, such as Sharia and its sciences, society and its conditions, Sufism and its methods...
This study aims to monitor the nature of the French Orientalist writings on Sufism in Algeria, and from there, highlight the similarities and differences in the French orientalist views of Algerian Sufi thought.
