Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of transformational leadership, one of the modern leadership approaches, for organizations, to evaluate the characteristics of Generation Z, which will enter the business life in the near future and to be a significant part of the workforce, and what the expectations are from the organization they will work with, and finally, to reveal whether the characteristics and expectations of the Generation Z are compatible with the characteristics of the transformational leader and its approach towards its employees. At first, the concept of leadership, historical development of the concept, leadership theories and transformational leadership as a modern approach are handled. Then, the concept of generation was examined, and information was given about the other four generations (Traditionalist, Baby Boomers, X and Y), especially the Z Generation. It has been seen in the examination that the personality traits of the Generation Z and their expectations from the organization are satisfactorily compatible with the mentality of the transformational leader and her approach towards its followers. Transformational leader can fulfill the needs of the organization as well as meet the expectation of Generation Z from the organization as Generation Z enters the business life.
