Abstract:

The Republican era was a period of severe political and social changes in many fields. The consequences of these changes were also reflected in philosophical and cultural studies, paving the way for the development and formation of many new intellectual movements during this period, in which Westernization was at the forefront. As in other areas of the West, it is the main goal to bridge the gap in philosophy, as well as the institutionalization of philosophy and the production of various works, as well as the training of individuals in this area, emerge as a priority. In this study, the important turning points in philosophical research during the Republican era were examined, with emphasis on the philosophy of Hilmi Ziya Ülken, who best reflects this period and has made significant contributions through his work. Subsequently, the problems and proposals that arose in the field of philosophy during the Republican era were discussed. Thus, the development and changes of philosophy during the mentioned era were revealed and on that basis, great questions and solutions related to the state of philosophy were proposed. Among these issues, dialogue, language, traditions, Islamic philosophy and cultural heritage were identified as the main issues to be addressed and solutions offered. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will contribute to the perfection of philosophy, both in terms of the developments as well as the shortcomings of our intellectual life. Because the problems that we have encountered in the field of philosophy since the Republic period still remain current today. Therefore, attempts to find solutions to these problems will enable philosophy to deepen in our country and receive the value it deserves.
